Reflection (Wk 1 – 9)

I am really glad that I have the opportunity to attend ES 1102 and it has helped me to brush up my English. In the past, I always think that English class is a boring class but ever since I attended ES 1102, I found that learning English can be so interesting. Over the past 9 weeks, I have learned and understood what are verb tense and verb forms and most importantly, the most essential grammar skills which I have always make lots of mistakes in. In addition, I have also learned how to do APA referencing, reader response and problem-solution essay.

From week 10 to week 12, I would like to learn new vocabulary as this will allow me to have more varieties on the word use. I believe language is a very powerful thing. Different ways of phrasing the sentence will bring across different tone to the readers. Hence, I would like to learn how we can rearrange the words for different types of tone sent to the readers.

My weakness has always been on grammar. However, after revisiting grammar in class as well as the feedbacks and corrections given by teacher and my classmates, I began to be more aware of it as I write my project reports. I guess more practice would help me to improve further.

The comments (word and audio) given by Ms Cook were really helpful to me. However, I preferred the audio as the explanations are clearer and examples were also given to show how I can improve. After the comments given, I would say that I’m about 90% confident in making the changes. I hope that if I have made the wrong changes, Ms Cook will comment again and for me to change again till I get it right. Looking forward to every English class for the remaining 2 weeks!
